Ringing Centre Workshop – Calling Touches
January 20 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The Calling Touches workshop has been arranged to encourage ringers to start to call simple touches. Do you only ring plain courses when you bob caller misses the practice? Every tower should have more than one bob caller or conductor. A novice conductor should always be encouraged to have a go. Remember – the first job is to ring the method yourself and know when to call the bobs. Don’t expect to be able to know where everyone is so that you can correct any mistakes; that may come later with practice and lots of homework. The conductor should not be blamed if a touch fires out if he stayed right, and the calling was correct.
In the workshop you will have the chance to practice without worrying about letting the team down if it doesn’t work out – everyone else will be supporting you.
There will be time for a bit of theory but it’s mainly an opportunity to get used to saying more than ‘Go’ and ‘That’s All’.
Ringing touches adds variety and makes you concentrate.
