The Cumbrian Codgers outings began in September 2012 and have become a popular monthly event since then.
David and June Horne introduced the outings with the focus on a relaxed enjoyable day, starting late morning running through to early evening. Held on the second Thursday of each month the typical programme is to visit one or two towns/villages, have a late pub lunch or cafe tea, maybe a bit of shopping/sight-seeing – with two or three towers thrown in for a spot of relaxed ringing.
Ringers of all standards are welcome whether you are just learning to ring rounds, or can already ring surprise maximus. You can come when you can – all or part of the day – and do as much or as little ringing as you want. There’s usually a method of the month for those who like a little challenge.
So far all corners of the county have been explored and there have been trips to north Lancashire as well as County Durham and Northumberland as well as forays into Scotland and Yorkshire.
Details of each outing are usually posted on the website, but you will get the latest news faster if you ask David to put your name on the email contact list.
