The famous Settle-Carlisle Line runs through Appleby and can add scenic enjoyment at the beginning and end of your visit. The station is high above the town and the walk back (a generous mile) is a stiffish climb – allow plenty of time for your train connection. The Friends of Settle-Carlisle Line operate a shop in Appleby Station and memorabilia is on display. There is a special memorial here for the late Bishop Treacy who died on the station while photographing his beloved steam engines. Direct line to Carlisle, Settle, Skipton, Leeds & Aire Valley stations.
Enter the church through the main door. The oor to the staircase , new in 2018, up to the ringing room is through the screen behind the organ.
