Getting there:

From the North:  Drive south through Whitehaven on the A595 in the direction signed Barrow. Stay on the A595 at the roundabout for the West Cumberland Hospital; after half a mile turn right onto Mirehouse Road, signed St Bees. After about a mile turn left at a T junction onto the B5345 which passes through St Bees. The Priory is to the right of the road; access to the car park is 50 yards beyond the lych gate.

From the South:  Drive north up the A595, signed Workington. After passing the Black Beck roundabout take the next left (B5345) signed St Bees. After 7 miles you reach the village. Go along Main Street until you cross the level crossing when the Priory will be clearly visible on the left of the road.

Alternative approaches from the A595 are possible.

By Rail: St Bees Station on the Cumbria Coastal line is only a few hundred yards from the Priory.


Parking is available in the Priory grounds.


The door to the spiral staircase up the tower is outside the Priory on the north side of the building in the north east corner between the trancept and the chancel (near the lych gate).
